Researches Human-ECA Rapport

Hey! My name is Aaron Rodriguez, and I am currently a junior in Computer Science at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Apart from being a student, I am an undergraduate research assistant at a CS research lab called Interactive Systems Group. In this lab, I focus on programming systems and developing virtual reality applications to study what is useful in building rapport between humans and Embodied Conversational Agents (ECAs). Additionally, I intern at a technology business called BeaconHillVR where I help build VR and AR systems to assist businesses and manufacturers with their productivity needs. I have also interned with a local tech company called Inmerssion where I worked with a team to develop VR experiences with photo-realistic 3d models for commercial entertainment purposes.

Here is a list of some noticeable achievements that I feel best display the results of my work:

  • Author: I am an author in 5 publications that have been accepted in various academic conferences

  • Award: College of Engineering, Dean's List (4.0/4.0) - 5 Semesters

  • Demo: Through Inmersion, I demoed VR projects, which I assisted in making, for music managers of popular artists such as Khalid

  • Scholarship: UTEP Presidential Excellence Scholarship (since Fall 2016)
